What You'll Need To Make These Recipes
While each recipe is very specific about what you will need, in most cases you will need the following items:
- Cast Iron Dutch Oven Buy a good size one 11" to 12" or a 6 to 9 quart are most common. You want one that will work for most recipes - main dish and desserts. You only want to carry one pan. Also, make sure you have a wire lift handle for getting the pot out of the fire. This one comes with one.
- Dutch Oven Liners, either aluminum or parchment (make sure you order the size that fits your pan)
- Plastic gallon storage bags in case you want to pre-prep some of the ingredients ahead of time.
Helpful Tips
- Whenever possible, pre-prep your ingredients in advance. For example, you can mix all your dry ingredients ahead of time and take in a gallon-sized plastic bag. This keeps you from packing too many ingredients which take up valuable space!
- Double check the recipe to make sure it will work with your size of dutch oven. If yours is too large you may be able to use an insert of a smaller size and make it work!
